What makes The British School in Málaga different?

08-09-2025

At The British School of Málaga, students follow a bilingual British-Spanish curriculum, enjoy world-class facilities and benefit from personalised support in an international environment.

What matters most to parents isn’t just grades or test scores, it’s seeing their child wake up excited for school, come home with new stories, and feel part of a community that truly cares. That’s what families across Málaga have found at The British School of Málaga.

Here, learning feels alive. Children are encouraged to ask questions, try new things, and grow in confidence, surrounded by teachers who know them well and friends from around the world. Parents often tell us it’s this mix of care, curiosity, and connection that first brought them to our doors — and why they stay.

Stefan Rumistrzewicz

Passionate learning happens when students feel happy, safe, curious and when attending purposeful classes, reflecting the modern world.

We offer more than one pathway to success

Whether your child wants to study at university in Spain, the UK or anywhere else in the world,
they’ll be ready. We follow the British curriculum in British schools Malaga  all the way from Early Years to Sixth Form, and we combine it with Spanish Language and Cultural Studies so students leave with
certified qualifications in both systems – IGCSEs and A Levels, plus ESO and PAU.

That means your child can go wherever their goals take them, without limits.

Jorge Mesa

I would recommend the school to other people for the amount of opportunities it has given me. I think it truly prepares you for life and makes you grow as an individual.

Jorge Mesa, Alumni

It’s a truly bilingual, international education

From age 3, students are fully immersed in English in this International schools in Malaga Spain. Our teachers are native English speakers, and children grow up hearing and using English every day. Spanish is added in early on, and from Secondary School, students choose a third language – French or German – as part of their studies.

We also support students who are still learning English when they arrive, with dedicated help from our English as an Additional Language - EAL team. Everyone gets the help they need to feel confident and keep up with their learning.

We know learning isn’t just about books

Academic results matter – and we’re proud of ours. In 2025, 86% of our IGCSE grades were A*–C, and 68% of our A Level results hit the same mark. But school is also where students discover their talents, build confidence and learn who they are.

That’s why we offer a full range of sports, creative workshops, debate clubs, music lessons and coding, all on campus. There are even exchange trips, international forums and ISP global events that take students beyond the classroom and into the world.

It’s a place where children feel at home

We hear it again and again: “BSM feels like a family.” With over 50 nationalities and more than 25 languages spoken, it’s a place where children from all backgrounds feel they belong.

We don’t just celebrate diversity – we live it. Events like Diversity Week, Multicultural Celebrations and Black History Month help our students grow into compassionate, globally minded individuals.

And with our school values – creativity, aspiration, resilience and empathy – guiding everything we do, children are encouraged to be their best selves every day.

Marta Troya

The school has given me so many opportunities abroad and in my desired field and I will forever be grateful for what I learnt here.

Our teachers know how to bring out the best in students

At BSM, teaching isn’t one-size-fits-all. Our staff know when to offer extra help and when to push a little harder. They build strong relationships with students and families, working closely to help every child reach their potential – not just academically, but personally.

We also have a strong pastoral system, because we know children learn best when they feel safe, understood and supported.

Families are part of school life too

You’ll never be left in the dark at BSM. Parents are kept informed and involved with weekly bulletins, open days, meetings and Monday messages. You’ll know what’s happening in the classroom and how your child is progressing.

Our Parent Ambassadors also help shape school life, sharing feedback and building a real sense of community across year groups.
