Summer School - from 30 June
During Secondary School, students aged 11 - 15 show independence in building their curriculum, develop a disciplined approach to their work and actively contribute to the wellbeing of the community.
In Key Stage 3 students fine-tune their knowledge and skills in core and specialised subjects, preparing to enter Key Stage 4 and international examinations.
In Key Stage 4, students progress to advanced lessons leading to IGCSE exams, with elective options in Business, Media Studies, Humanities and Arts alongside core subjects.
Students continue Spanish classes in Spanish Language and Literature, History and Geography, preparing to obtain national ESO qualifications.
Students develop cognitive, digital fluency, communication and global skills through sports, arts, clubs, ISP's ILOS Programme and cultural exchanges.
Learners fast-track English fluency while continuing to grow in their home language, including learning French or German as additional languages.
Students benefit from individualised mentoring in choosing IGCSEs subjects through support in identifying strengths, ambitions and discovering new aspirations.
Learners grow in purpose-built facilities, including science and ICT labs, creative studios, sports fields and a dedicated Secondary building, with access to advanced tech tools.
Students reach excellent results in their IGCSE exams, with nearly 90% obtaining between A* and C.
Students lead through House Captain, sports clubs, after-school activities opportunities and international programmes like European Youth Parliament.

During Secondary school students' progress is tracked using the British grading system for subjects from the British curriculum, while Spanish classes are graded according to the national 1 - 10 system.
Gradings refer to both classwork and students' attitude and behaviour while in class. Our team ensures personalised monitoring, providing students and parents comments on needed improvements and clear direction on how to do so.
Students prepare for an ever-changing and challenging world with confidence. Our core values of Creativity, Aspiration, Resilience and Empathy act as a roadmap to develop life competencies that leave a meaningful mark in society.
Through Ethics sessions, Secondary students engage with important real-world topics such as discrimination, financial literacy, sex education, drug awareness, online safety and modern society.
Digital awareness and literacy is ensured through a conscious use of technology as an EdTech school. Students often attend assemblies on current topics, including the role of Artificial Intelligence in everyday life.
Students learn to embrace different cultures and points of view through school key events, including Black History Month and Diversity Month.
Mastering fluency in both English and Spanish, Secondary students can choose to take up a third language between French and German.
International students who are not fluent in Spanish have the opportunity to learn Spanish as a foreign language as part of the curriculum.
Learners can also join our dedicated language clubs and practice their skills among each other.
Students connect with peers worldwide through enriching global experiences. They participate in an exchange programme in Germany and cultural trips to London and Florida, including a visit to the Kennedy Space Centre.
Learners take part in the debate forum of the European Youth Parliament discussing pressing contemporary matters with peers.
As part of International Schools Partnership, they also access global opportunities with other ISP sister schools:
From Secondary onwards, students are supported by a class tutor, one of their subject teachers, who guides them in their journey.
During the different Subject Fairs, learners meet with Heads of Departments and hear testimonials from older peers about the subjects they are considering as IGCSE options, gaining a deeper understanding of possible choices.
Students also enjoy placements in companies for a few days, experiencing firsthand what it means to start a career in a particular field.
IGCSE examinations
Students in Key Stage 4 start a seamless two-year journey to obtain globally recognised examinations, examined and marked in the UK. They obtain a solid foundation for higher level study, including A Levels, Spanish Bachillerato and the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Spanish complementary studies
Throughout Secondary School, Spanish students complement their British studies with Spanish subjects, Lengua Castellana y Literatura together with History and Geography, in accordance with the precepts set out by the Junta de Andalucía.
This way they obtain a certified double qualification of Secondary (British and Spanish).
The Admissions Department at The British School of Málaga is open all year round for the Secondary school, ready to make the application process easy and straightforward for all families.
