Our school teaches the British curriculum supplemented by Spanish subjects for children from 3 to 18 years of age (Nursery to Year 13).

The educational stages are divided into Early Years (Nursery and Reception), Primary (Years 1 to 6), Secondary (Years 7 to 11) and Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13).

Some of our students follow the EAL (English as an Additional Language) programme if they need additional English language support.

Our school is part of the International Schools Partnership - ISP, an international group of schools around the world.

As a member of this group of schools, students have access to a wide range of academic and personal development opportunities worldwide through the ILOS programmes, including exchanges, competitions, exhibitions, etc.

The academic year runs from September to June inclusive. The year is divided into 3 terms with their respective "half terms".

  • First term: from September to Christmas. The first half term takes place during All Saints' Day (1st November).
  • Second term: from January to Easter. Half term is what is known in Spain as "Semana Blanca" (week of the 28th February bank holiday).
  • Third term: after Easter to summer. Half term is the May bank holiday.

The summer holidays are during the months of July and August. During the month of July our school organises a Summer School.

As our school follows the British system, there may be differences with other education systems in terms of both reports and parent meetings.

In general:

  • Primary. School reports are issued once a year, at the end of the school year. Throughout the year parents can meet with their children's teachers to discuss their child´s progress during tutorials. In Spanish subjects, they will receive a progress report every three months.
  • Secondary. School reports are issued at the end of each term. You can make an appointment with your child's tutors/teachers at any time during the year.

Generally speaking, the school day is from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. However, it is staggered in order to facilitate the access and departure of students.

Please note that our campus has a building for each stage of education and that access may be different for each age range.

We have a morning Breakfast Club, from 8.00am until classes starts, and afternoon Snack Club from 4.00pm to 5.00pm.
Both include a snack.

If your child is in Nursery to Year 3 it is very important that you give us authorisation for someone other than an authorised parent/guardian to collect your child.

The authorised collection form is permanently accessible in the Online Office section of the BSM Portal.

In this case, you must make sure that you have completed the registration form for the bus service, with the bus route and the bus stop that you require.

The bus company will arrange the details with you and confirm the exact pick-up and drop-off times for each bus line/stop. We ask for maximum punctuality in order to offer a good bus service.

Each bus line has a monitor on board, who will be the contact person with the families. Each bus also has a mobile phone, which shares the actual location of the bus and will be used to communicate any incident.

The buses park at the school in an area designated for school transport. Primary students are escorted to their building. Secondary students must go to the buses independently.

All bus information is available on our BSM Portal.

School uniform is compulsory. Please consult the school uniform page for any questions about clothing and how/where to buy school uniform.

The lunch menu is compulsory for all students. You can consult the current menu on the BSM Portal. The menus are changed every month.

In our school we have a system of Houses or teams: Earth (green), Wind (yellow), Fire (red) and Water (blue). All students and teachers belong to a house. There are students from all years in the same house, which encourages cohesion and participation.

Throughout the year the houses receive points for activities, both individually and collectively.

When a student joins our school they are assigned to one of the houses. Please check with your child's teacher/tutor.

In addition to extracurricular activities, studetns are offered a range of clubs for personal development and leisure. These clubs are completely free of charge and do not require registration, as students only need to be present in the classroom at the indicated times.

Extracurricular activities take place from 04.00pm (except for certain judo classes during the lunch break).  Programme and registration form are available on the BSM Portal

Our school has a nurse on duty throughout the school day. In case of any kind of incident, our nurse will contact you.

If your child is taking any medication or needs to follow any treatment plan, please fill in the appropriate form so that the nurse can administer it during the school day.

The school issues two communications every week. On Mondays, letters and circulars for parents to read. On Fridays, the weekly newsletter, which is a magazine about school events.

Families have access to the following online sites:

BSM Portal. This is an open and public portal where you will find all practical and useful information, links, forms, etc. for school life. We recommend that you save the site in your favourite links. It is always open and up to date.

iSAMS. This is the school platform where you can find the details of each student (personal, health, academic, attendance, grades, incidents, etc). You must have a username to access.

Google Classroom. The day-to-day running of classes is usually reflected in the Google Classroom. These virtual classrooms are managed directly by teachers who will give parents access if the student is in Primary. In Secondary it is expected that the pupils will be the ones to log in.

Our school uses the Google digital environment and the Google Workspace platform to its full extent.

All students have a school email address, created when they join us. This is a secure account that can only receive email from school authorised domains. If you have not received the email and/or instructions, please contact your child's teacher or tutor.

Google Classroom is also used to monitor classes and subjects, except in Infants, where "Evidence Me" is used.

In Primary. Each class has a virtual classroom in Google Classroom. Ask your teacher for access.

In Secondary. Each subject also has its own Google Classroom.

The digital device for school use in our school is the Chromebook. It is compulsory for students from Year 3 upwards and must be purchased and set up for the student through our IT Department.

Please note that students are not allowed to use mobile phones and smartwatches in school.

If a student is found using a mobile phone, it will be confiscated and parents will be asked to collect it at the end of the school day.

You can access the Feedback/Complaint Form published on our BSM Portal.

If you wish to contact your child's teacher (Primary) or tutor (Secondary), you can do so by email. You will find an up to date email list on our BSM Portal.

If you have any general queries, please contact our main Reception at reception@britishschoolmalaga.com. Reception is open from 8.30am to 5.00pm.

There is a group of "Parent Ambassadors" who are the point of contact for new and existing families.
