Throughout each academic year, Primary students attend weekly assemblies. We use these assemblies in order to deliver aspects of the English National Curriculum for PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education). There are two ‘statutory’ elements to this curriculum in Primary: Relationships Education (Relationships education (Primary) and Physical Health and Mental Wellbeing (Physical health and mental wellbeing (Primary and secondary). We also utilise objectives and materials from the PSHE Association in England, to deliver additional non-statutory PSHE learning opportunities for our students (PSHE Association Programme of Study for PSHE Education (Key Stages 1-5).Each class from Y1-Y6 also has a dedicated PSHE session weekly, during the 30 minutes either prior to or following assembly. These sessions are the responsibility of individual class teachers, who use these sessions to design learning experiences focussed on the needs of their students. Sometimes these sessions extend the objectives covered in the assembly, or focus on objectives pertinent to any recent incidents/concerns.
